Model Trust Framework

MIT has recently spun off an exciting new non-profit corporation called IDcubed.org, focusing on the unique role of Trust Frameworks in the digital ecology of life. The group is pursuing many interesting and important project.

My favorite project today is working with the IDcubed, leading development of a Model Trust Framework, with several reference implementations.  We have a world-class advisory committee for the legally oriented “System Rules” component of the Model Trust Framework, including Tom Smedinghoff of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP and Amercican Bar Association fame, Scott David of K&L Gates and counsel to OIX, eCitizen Foundation and others, and David Johnson of New York Law School, the Center for Democracy and Technology and former Chairman of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Update March 6, 2012: The ID Federation, Inc Trust Framework for the Insurance and Financial Services sector is available for comment, and follows the general Business, Legal & Technology architecture of the Model Trust Framework.

Update Feb 22, 2012: The Personal Data Trust Framework System Rules draft is available for comment, and follows the general Business, Legal & Technology architecture for the Model Trust Framework.

We’ll have a more general draft and other reference drafts for comment shortly.  For more information or to get involved, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
